ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS

OUR ADVENT COURSE – based on Prof. Diarmaid MacCulloch’s TV series ‘A History of Christianity’ Wednesdays 2, 9, 16 December at 1 Norman Road 7.30 pm – or Thursdays 3, 10, 17 December at the Rectory, Navarre Road, 11 am.

ADVENT QUIET – a time of peaceful reflection amid the bustle of Christmas preparation 2-2.30 pm Tuesdays 1, 8, 15, 22 December in St Bart’s Chapel

4 P.M. CAROL SERVICE – we follow the Christmas story through music, familiar and new, readings and reflections – and bless our Christmas Crib

CHRISTMAS EVE

5 P.M. AT ST MARY MAGDALENE’S CHURCH, HIGH ST SOUTH - CHILDREN’S SERVICE with blessing of the Crib and Christingle

MIDNIGHT MASS AT ST BART’S – Service begins at 11.30 pm

CHRISTMAS MORNING AT ST BART’S – Eucharist at 10 am

SUNDAY 3 JANUARY10 AM THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY - we celebrate the coming of the wise men


Regular Events

EVERY THURSDAY 12.30 p.m - lunchtime eucharist – a quiet, friendly service in the chapel


FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH 10 a.m. ALL-AGE EUCHARIST - From 0 to 90+, we come together for a service which is a little less formal, and where our young people help to lead the worship.


LAST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH AT OUR USUAL 10 A.M. SERVICE


ALTERNATE MONTHS FROM JANUARY Our eucharist has a special emphasis on healing and wholeness: after communion we offer laying-on-of hands and prayers for healing


ALTERNATE MONTHS FROM FEB Open prayers – the opportunity for anyone from the congregation to ask us to join in praying for the people, places and situations close to their hearts.


BIBLE STUDY AND SUNDAY EVENING SERVICE

On the last Sunday of each month from 6 December 2009 there will be an opportunity for bible study at St Mary’s at 4.30 pm., followed by refreshments, and an evening service at 6 pm.
